Chitabe Camp is situated in a private concession area on a beautiful island in the south-east of the Okavango Delta, Botswana Safaris.

While playing host to the diversity of wildlife, birds and habitats which only the Okavango Delta can offer, this area is a breathtaking mosaic of open floodplains, waterways, marshlands, dry acacia and mopane woodland, riverine forest and open grasslands which is notably in contrast to the areas further north.

The camp is located in a diverse area incorporating mopane woodlands, acacia, floodplains and the perennial delta, all of which provide a variety of wildlife.

Chitabe Camp is a luxurious 8-roomed tented camp built on one of the most beautiful islands in the Okavango Delta, in a private area which is bordered on three sides by the Moremi Game Reserve.

Each tented room has en-suite facilities with flush toilets, a shower and basin with hot and cold running water.
Accommodation consists of 8 spacious East African style tents that are built on elevated wooden decks, beneath the lush tree canopy.

The thatched dining area, lounge and pub are also raised on decks overlooking the surrounding flood plains.
Activities consist of day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles accompanied by an experienced guide, as well as nature walks.

Game viewing is good, and includes Buffalo, Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Reedbuck, Lechwe, Impala, Zebra and Hippo, Wild Dogs occur in the area.

Chitabe Trails and Chitabe main camps are within walking distance of each other and hence can be combined for a group of up to 24 guests. Access into this area is only by aircraft.

GAME VIEWING;

The area is a combination of open grasslands, acacia-forest and shallow waterways. Game viewing is varied from the lush green period after the rains to the dry winter months. Buffalo, Elephant, Lion, Warthog, Lechwe, Hippo, Giraffe, Leopard, Cheetah, Tsessebe are found throughout the year. Wild Dogs den in June and pups might be seen in mid to late July.
The plains game numbers in the area peak during the dry season.

ACTIVITIES;

Land game drives in open 4x4 Land Rovers – the camp has 3 x 10-seater Land Rovers each accommodating a maximum of seven guests, allowing all guests an outside seat.
The camp does have a supply of bean bags for guests to use to steady their camera while on a game activity.
Night drives with spotlight.
Walking Safaris are offered from camp on request basis.
Hides: one within walking distance from the camp.
