The tents have a unique and wonderful design and each has a private viewing deck sculpted around one of the lofty sycamore figs or jackalberry trees.
Named after a very special bull elephant, Abu Camp was the original base camp when Africa's first elephant back safaris were pioneered in the Delta 17 years ago.
Today it is located in a grove of magnificent hardwood trees on the edge of a large lagoon at the edge of the Okavango Delta with a resident school of hippo.
The lounge and dining tent has beautiful big sofas, with a breathtaking view over the lagoon and also features a well-stocked library and a study.
The secluded small pool allows guests to relax and cool off in the heat of the day and a well-stocked bar provides drinks and cocktails for post-safari sundowners around a camp fire.
Guests at Abu Camp are invited to share with the resident elephant family what is, without doubt, the ultimate elephant education safari.
The elephant experiences offer many magical moments including the interacting with the resident herd of eight elephants, allowing 8 guests to ride at a time (there are 4 ride elephants each taking 2 guests at a time and 4 non-ride elephants in camp).
Abu also offers game drives, night drives, walks and mokoro (dug out canoe) safaris.
For guests looking for the ultimate in bush luxury and exclusivity, the private Villa Okavango is situated across the lagoon – a short five minute drive away. This suite can accommodate a couple or a family, but does not offer any guarenteed elephant interaction or activities.
